San’s Tailored Designs was founded in 2016, born from a lifelong passion for sewing and a dedication to creating high-quality, custom competition costumes. Specializing in custom figure skating costumes, ballet, and dance designs, I take pride in crafting unique performance costumes that enhance both comfort and style on the ice, stage, and beyond.
My journey began at age 12 in a home economics class, where I discovered my love for sewing. Years later, I found joy in designing costumes for my granddaughter, leading me to explore the art of custom design and fit for competitive performers. Word of mouth soon spread, and I began creating bespoke competition costumes for skaters, dancers, and ballet productions—including commissions for Nutcracker performances and competitive dance troupes.
To ensure accuracy and efficiency in my designs, I integrate technology into my process, enabling me to create custom patterns that bring my clients' visions to life. For example, I use Procreate for digital sketches to visualize design concepts and computer-assisted design (CAD) to craft accurate, custom patterns. This allows me to refine each design with creativity and precision. Every costume is thoughtfully designed, expertly constructed, and tailored to reflect the unique style and role of the performer.
