San’s Tailored Designs was founded in 2016, born from a lifelong dedication to the art of sewing and a passion for the competitive sports community. My focus on costuming began firsthand when my grandchildren became involved in figure skating and dance. What started as creating high-quality performance pieces for them expanded into designing for local studios and competitive athletes.
Alongside developing my specialized costuming work over the last several years, I also operated a formal gown alterations service. Running both specialties simultaneously allowed me to continuously cross-train my techniques. Working with complex formalwear provided an incredible environment to deeply enhance my overall skill set, refine my approach to custom fit, and sharpen my technical execution. Moving forward, I am setting formal alterations aside to focus my studio entirely on the unique demands of the costuming world.
To ensure accuracy and structural integrity, I integrate modern technology directly into my pattern drafting process. I use digital sketching to visualize design concepts and computer-assisted design (CAD) to craft detailed, custom patterns. This allows me to refine each design with a balance of creative artistry and technical expertise, ensuring every piece is perfectly engineered for high-performance athletic movement.
At San’s Tailored Designs, I offer four levels of costume services, ensuring that every client finds the right balance of design, craftsmanship, and budget within this specialized world. Because high-performance stretch garments require highly specific construction, my studio focuses exclusively on competition costumes rather than general apparel or casual alterations.
My goal is to merge master craftsmanship with creativity, transforming fabrics into one-of-a-kind designs that inspire confidence, elegance, and peak performance on the ice and stage. I look forward to collaborating with you to bring your design vision to life.
